EMDR w/ Kids

Interview w/ EMDRIA approved Trainer and Consultant- Emily Loupe.

Container Exercise Demonstration

Container is necessary for clients to be able to contain after an incomplete target. However, this exercise can also be used when client is experiencing distress in their day to day life.

EMDr Demonstration

EMDr (little r) is inbetween EMD and EMDR. It gives the client a chance to do some reprocessing in a controlled state where the clinician brings the client back to the original target after several sets or when the client begins to process towards associated channels the client is not ready to process yet. It is a titrated version of EMDR Therapy.

Safe/ Calm Place Demonstration

Safe/ Calm Place is needed for the client to able to regulate and experience felt safety/ grounding after an incomplete session. This exercise can be taught to clients early on as a grounding tool in helping them state change (ground themselves).

Library Exercise Demonstration (Alternative to Container)

Similar to Container, the goal of Library is to help the client contain after an incomplete target as well as when they are experiencing flashbacks or distress in their day to day life.

EMDR Therapy Demonstration

This is considered a “Bee Sting” target. When starting EMDR Therapy, it can be helpful to have the client first experience EMDR Therapy with a lower distress target. This gives them a chance to “test the waters” and ask questions about the process after experiencing it.

Lightstream Demonstration

Lightstream is another state change exercise that clients can use to help with heightened emotions or sensations.

EMD Demonstration

EMD is used for symptom reduction, not trauma reprocessing. It can be used when client has heightened anxiety. Ideally, you will eventually do EMDR on the target you use EMD with to fully process the memories channels.

Positive Template Demonstration

There can be confusion for some EMDR Therapists between a Future Target and a Positive Template. Part of the Three Prong Protocol is targeting a future concern using Phases 3-7. Following, a client may benefit from a Positive Template where they rehearse future scenarios.
